Ferrolix® L 40/Ferrolix® L 40 A

Ferrolix® L 40/Ferrolix® L 40 A - chemicals for the treatment of steam boilers. The products are licensed by the German Product Safety Control Organization (TUV) and are approved for use in steam boilers.

Ferrolix® L40 and Ferrolix® L40 A are designed as corrective phosphates for water treatment after primary decarbonization by ion exchange and for treatment of non-carbonized feed water of steam boilers. These products are used for the treatment of soft and medium-hard water if the total hardness does not exceed 2.7 mol/m3 (270 ppm CaCO3).

Thanks to the stabilizing effect of Ferrolix® L 40 and L 40 A, the feed pipes are protected against limescale. The sludge generated in the boiler becomes flaky due to flocculation and is easily removed into the drain.  In addition, the boiler walls are protected against corrosion. Constant use of the product reduces the layer of old scale.

Oxygen binders react with residual oxygen in the feed water and boiler water, thus preventing corrosion. Both products contain antifoam agents that protect against the formation of foam in highly alkaline water or in case of high concentration of salts in boiler water.

Ferrolix® L 40 and L 40 A are not volatile and are approved for use in food industry steam boilers.

Use after primary decarbonisation by ion exchange. Ferrolix® L 40 and L 40 A are suitable for all types of steam boilers, except disposable heating boilers. A 1% to 2% solution is dosed by pulling 10-15 ppm P2O5 in boiler water.  Usually 5-6 g/m3 product is sufficient for feed water. If due to weak thermal deaeration the amount of oxygen is more than 2 mg/l, it is recommended to use Ferrolix® L 9 with a large amount of oxygen-binding substances.

Treatment of feed water. The solution is constantly dosed to 1-2 %, supporting 10-15 ppm P2O5 in boiler water. Usually, at 20 ppm total hardness (by amount of CaCO3), 10-15 g of product per 1 m3 of feed water is required. The exact dosage depends on the total and carbonate hardness of the boiler water. The exact dosage should be determined with the help of the specialists of the technical department of ŠOMIS. If the water is slightly alkaline, Ferrolix® L 40 A should be used.
